31 AUG 2017 - PETE MOYLAN SOLID ;  KEON BROXTON DAZZLES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Kevin Kiermaier

Veteran Aussie PETER MOYLAN delivered a couple of quick-fire outs with three of just five pitches thrown for strikes during his Kansas City Royals' 3-5 home loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. Coming into the contest with two out and nobody on base in the top of the seventh, Pete needed just the one pitch to get Steven Souza Jr. to ground out to short stop. He returned for the top of the eighth specifically to face Rays' star Evan Longoria who he got to fly out to left as his last contribution today. Moylan recorded the obvious pitching line of 0.2ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (4.13 ERA) in the losing cause on this occasion. Centrefielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.272) and scored a run for Tampa.

Milwaukee Brewers' star defensive outfielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) proved his worth today with one of the most spectacular and dramatic outfield catches you could ever imagine. Coming into the game as a defensive replacement during the eighth inning, Keon preserved a tenuous one run lead for the 'Brew Crew' in the top of the ninth when his stunning high-leaping catch above the wall in centre field not only robbed Randall Grichuk of a go-ahead two run homer, but it ended the game for a tight 6-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Broxton didn't get to hit in this game, but he really didn't need to did he?

Rookie sensation RHYS HOSKINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2016) may have cooled off a tad with the long ball, but he still contributed 1-4 (.303) for the Philadelphia Phillies who nailed only six total hits throughout their 1-2 loss to the travelling Atlanta Braves.

30 AUG 2017 - WARWICK SAUPOLD HURT BY ARENADO LONG BALL!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Warwick Saupold
Aussie reliever WARWICK SAUPOLD struggled to get the job done today when he ran into the All Star bat of Colorado's Nolan Arenado while pitching a rough 0.1ip 1h 2r 2er 1bb 1k (3.88 ERA) for the Detroit Tigers who were bettered by the Rockies 3-7. With one on and two out in the bottom of the seventh, Warwick bought himself further trouble by walking D.J LeMahieu on a full count, quickly followed by Arenado's three-run bomb over left centre for two of his own earned runs. He finished the inning by having Gerardo Parra struck out swinging.

Reliever BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) recorded his third hold with the Kansas City Royals by pitching 1.0ip 1h 1r 1er 0bb 0k (6.92 ERA) during their 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Centrefielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.272) with a run scored as the leadoff batter for the Rays.

KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted 1-4 (.225) plus a run batted in for the Milwaukee Brewers as a decent contribution for the team that was crushed 2-10 by the visiting St. Louis Cardinals.

29 AUG 2017 - RHYS HOSKINS SHATTERS ROOKIE HR RECORDS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Rhys Hoskins
Firstly we must apologise for the rare occurrence that we have "missed" another former ABL import that made a rapid rise to the major leagues and who is currently doing remarkable things at the pinnacle of world baseball. It is not often that we give top billing to import players in these updates, but we simply must recognise the amazing efforts of RHYS HOSKINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2016) who has made a sensational start to his big league career with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The 24yo left fielder, who made his major league debut on 10 August, has decimated big league records by hitting 11 home runs from his first 18 games at the top level. In fairness, we didn't have much reason to scrutinise the Phillies box scores, yet it remains a quandary to us that we didn't recognise his name while all this was taking place. Moving on, Hoskins did not add to his home run plunder today while batting a still very useful 2-4 (.309) with a RBI and two runs scored to help the Phils to beat the Atlanta Braves 6-1. We've certainly got our eye firmly on you now Rhys!
27 AUG 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS STRONG ; WARWICK SAUPOLD HOLDS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
Aussie star LIAM HENDRIKS added another scoreless inning of relief today when he closed out the Oakland Athletics' 8-3 victory over the Texas Rangers. Pitching the top of the ninth with a solid lead in the game, he threw 11 of 18 pitches for strikes to record a 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 1bb 1k (4.99 ERA) stats line.
Liam began by issuing a threatening full count walk to Robinson Chirinos, but he re-grouped well to get Delino DeShields to fly out to left, Shin-Soo Choo to fly out to centre and then he finished with a flourish by striking out Elvis Andrus. Once again he has pushed his ERA below 5.00.

His WA compatriot WARWICK SAUPOLD registered his first hold of the season this morning by pitching 0.2ip 0h 0r 0er 1bb 1k (3.61 ERA) for the Detroit Tigers to help them to double their division rival Chicago White Sox 6-3 at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Saupold came to the bump to strike out former ABL import Adam Engel, ahead of a five pitch walk milked by Alen Hanson. He finished off a scoreless inning with Tyler Saladino induced to ground out to short. ADAM ENGEL (Melbourne Aces 2015) struck out twice while batting a barren 0-3 (.181) for the 'ChiSox' today.

25 AUG 2017 - PETER MOYLAN HOLDS HIS 17th FOR KANSAS CITY!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Aussie evergreen PETER MOYLAN swooped for his 17th hold of the season this morning after pitching a neat 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (4.27 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who still fell short in a 2-3 defeat by the Colorado Rockies.

Once again Pete was summoned to face D.J LeMahieu who he dealt with perfectly by inducing his to ground into an inning ending double play to finish the top of the seventh.

Pete then returned for the top of the eighth and he got the vital out of All Star Nolan Arenado to lead off the inning before he was lifted when lefty Gerardo Parra was announced to bat.

24 AUG 2017 - PETE MOYLAN TOILS HARD FOR ROYALS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Didi Gregorius

For a guy who has been pitching very brief outings of late, Australia's PETER MOYLAN was pressed into extra duty today with 1.1ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (4.37 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals during their big 6-4 comeback win over the Colorado Rockies. With runners on the corners and two out in the top of the sixth, Pete couldn't prevent the run scoring from third when D.J LeMahieu singled up the middle. That was just before Pete picked off the runner on first with a challenged tag play that ended the inning. Moylan then ran through the top of the seventh 1-2-3 with Nolan Arenado struck out swinging, Gerardo Parra grounding out to second and Mark Reynolds struck out swinging on a full count. He had kept his club in the game and that is often all that you can ask from a late inning reliever, especially when your team rallies to win.

Stil running hot following his long stint on the disabled list is centrefielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) who bashed his ninth and tenth home runs of the season while batting a mighty 3-4 (.276) with three RBIs and three runs scored for the Tampa Bay Rays who were outslugged 6-7 by the visiting Toronto Blue Jays.

Short stop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) "went yard" for the 19th time this season while batting another productive 2-4 (.312) with two RBIs that contributed to the New York Yankees comfortable 10-2 win over the Detroit Tigers.

Baltimore Orioles' reliever MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) recorded his 20th hold of the season despite a moderate 1.2ip 2h 2er 1bb 3k (2.42 ERA) as his team hung on the edge the visiting Oakland Athletics 8-7.

KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted 1-3 (.230) for the Milwaukee Brewers who were doubled 2-4 by the San Francisco Giants.

  23 AUG 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS HOLDS 13th ; SAUPOLD SUFFERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Kevin Kiermaier

Australia's LIAM HENDRIKS was very tough to handle again today with a penetrating scoreless inning of 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (5.08 ERA) for the Oakland Athletics who held off the Baltimore Orioles 6-4 at Camden Yards. Liam made very short work of the seventh inning with Adam Jones struck out swinging, Trey Mancini grounding out to second and Mark Trumbo struck out swinging to end the inning in fine style. Hendriks threw nine of 14 pitches for strikes to continue a great current streak of hot form.

Aussie reliever WARWICK SAUPOLD had a rough day today when he and the Detroit Tigers both ran into a rampant New York Yankees offence in their 4-13 losing game at Comerica Park today.
Warwick was required to relieve pummelled Tigers' starter Matthew Boyd in the top of the third with a runner on third base and just the one out with his team already in a big 0-6 hole. Another run scored immediately when Ronald Torreyes lifted a sacrifice fly before the inning concluded with Brett Gardner lining out softly to the third baseman. In the top of the fourth he got leadoff batter Aaron Hicks to fly out to left, but the pressure was ramped up when Gary Sanchez singled into centre field and Aaron Judge milked a full count walk. Saupold struck out Didi Gregorius ahead of Tyler Austin walking to load the bags. Thankfully he escaped that jam by getting Chase Headley to line out to left field. The Yanks kept coming in the fifth when Todd Frazier singled to lead off the frame and Ronald Torreyes followed with another single. Brett Gardner grounded into a fielder's choice that erased the lead runner before Aaron Hicks plated another run when he reached on a fielder's choice to the first baseman. Saupold got Gary Sanchez struck out on a full count, but he was then lifted when Aaron Judge singled into left. Obviously his line of 2.1ip 4h 2r 2er 2bb 2k (3.66 ERA) was not his finest hour, however, it is hard to halt a runaway train! Starting short stop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 2-5 (.310) with a run scored as a somewhat minor contributor to the Yankees rout.

Elder Aussie statesman PETER MOYLAN secured the one out he was asked to contribute for the Kansas City Royals who prevailed nervously 3-2 over the travelling the Colorado Rockies. With two out in the top of the eighth, Pete was summoned from the bullpen specifically to face right hander D.J LeMahieu who he dismissed with two pitchers by getting him to ground out to the second baseman.

Outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) tripled for the third time this season while batting 2-5 (.268) with two runs batted in that clearly helped his Tampa Bay Rays to just outlast the visiting Toronto Blue Jays 6-5.

22 AUG 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS STRONG IN LOSS TO ORIOLES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
After some inactivity recently, Australian relief ace LIAM HENDRIKS was back pitching in his customary solid manner this morning with a conclusive 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (5.19 ERA) for the Oakland Athletics during their 3-7 loss to the home standing Baltimore Orioles. Liam tucked away the bottom of the sixth neatly with Seth Smith struck out swinging, Tim Beckham lining out to centrefield and Manny Machado grounding out to the third baseman. In all he threw nine of fifteen pitches for strikes for a crisp performance in a losing cause.

Back from a prolonged injury absence, Tampa Bay Rays Platinum Glove outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) celebrated his return with his eighth home run of the season while batting 2-4 (.265) with the vital RBI as part of their 3-0 shutout win over the visiting Seattle Mariners.

20 AUG 2017 - WARWICK SAUPOLD VERY TIDY v LA DODGERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Warwick Saupold
Australian right hander WARWICK SAUPOLD pitched a very tidy and efficient inning of 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (3.47 ERA) as a middle reliever for the Detroit Tigers during their 5-8 loss to the high rolling Los Angeles Dodgers at Comerica Park. Taking good care of the top of the seventh, Warwick got Yasiel Puig to fly out to right, Adrian Gonzalez to ground out to second and Logan Forstythe to line out to centre field. He threw five of only nine pitches for strikes to breeze through the clean inning of work.

Recently traded reliever BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) had a mixed outing with 1.0ip 2h 1r 1er 0bb 2k (8.38 ERA) in the eighth inning of the Kansas City Royals' 0-5 shutout loss to the Cleveland Indians.

Converted former ABL short stop MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) pitched a strong 1.2ip 0h 0r 0er 1bb 4k (2.21 ERA) at the end of the Baltimore Orioles 1-5 loss to the visiting Los Angeles Angels.

17 AUG 2017 - PETE MOYLAN HOLDS 15th FOR KANSAS CITY!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Experienced Australian reliever PETER MOYLAN was on hand to earn his 15th hold of the season with a really vital 1.2ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (4.53 ERA) that helped the Kansas City Royals to sneak past the Oakland Athletics 7-6 in Oakland today. Pete was called to arms with two aboard and one out in the bottom of the sixth and he played the role of the fireman brilliantly by getting pinch hitter Matt Olson to ground softly back to the mound before punching out Rajai Davis with just four pitches. Moylan then made very short work of the bottom of the seventh with Marcus Simien and Jed Lowrie both grounding out to the second baseman, then Khris Davis struck out swinging on a full count pitch. His new bullpen mate BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) copped a blown save and then the win after pitching a shaky 1.0ip 4h 2er 0bb 2k (6.19 ERA) for KC when he relieved Moylan for the eighth inning.

Streaky hitting centrefielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) was at his explosive best this morning with home runs numbers 18 and 19 while batting 2-4 (.226) with the two RBIs that were decisive in helping the Milwaukee Brewers to scrape past the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-6.

Outfielder JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) batted 1-4 (.254) and he scored a run for the Baltimore Orioles who were edged 6-7 by the Seattle Mariners.

16 AUG 2017 - WARWICK SAUPOLD TORMENTED BY TEXAS RANGERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Warwick Saupold
West Aussie WARWICK SAUPOLD ran into the teeth of a firestorm today while pitching the eighth inning for the Detroit Tigers who were overrun 4-10 by the Texas Rangers in Arlington. It all began in the most ominous fashion with a leadoff walk issued to Elvis Andrus followed by a RBI double from likely future Hall Of Famer Adrian Beltre. Warwick struck out Nomar Mazzara looking and then issued an intentional walk to power hitter Joey Gatto to set up a potential inning ending double play. The ploy came unstuck when a wild pitch advanced the runners and Mike Napoli drove both of them in with with a RBI single into left field. After Napoli made it to second on the throw, Warwick was called upon to fill the empty base at first with another intentional walk to Rougned Odor. A full count walk to Robinson Chrinos loaded the bases before the second out was secured when Delino DeShields struck out swinging on three pitches. The fourth run of the inning crossed the plate when Shin-Soo Choo grounded out to short to score Napoli, but the inning mercifully concluded when Odor was tagged out at home trying to score another run on the play. Saupold's line of 1.0ip 3h 4r 4er 4bb 2k (3.54 ERA) represented a tough day in a losing cause.

Aussie righty LIAM HENDRIKS did his job with aplomb to record a scoreless eighth inning of 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (5.29 ERA) for the Oakland Athletics who were denied 2-6 by the visiting Kansas City Royals.
Liam got Jorge Bonifacio to ground out to short, Alcides Escobar to ground out to third and Alex Gordon to pop out to the third baseman in foul territory.
Kansas reliever BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) was also solid enough with 1.0ip 1h 0er 0bb 1k (5.94 ERA) when he pitched the eighth inning for the Royals.

14 AUG 2017 - WARWICK SAUPOLD & LIAM HENDRIKS BOTH EFECTIVE!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Warwick Saupold
Aussie reliever WARWICK SAUPOLD continues to be a regular performer for the Detroit Tigers this season with a solid, but ultimately unsuccessful, 1.0ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (2.85 ERA) during today's 4-6 loss to the Minnesota Twins. Saupold came into a tied 4-4 game in the midst of an eighth inning rally with two runners aboard courtesy of back-to-back leadoff walks and still nobody out. In predictable fashion the Twins chose to advance both runners with a sacrifice bunt that Saupold fielded himself for the assist. The ploy had immediate results when Byron Buxton cashed in a RBI single up the middle and Ehire Adrianza added a sacrifice fly RBI. Warwick avoided further damage when he got Brian Dozier grounded out to third to end the frame. It won't bring a lot of comfort to the competitive Aussie that both runs were scored by inherited runners and his personal ERA was intact.

His West Aussie compatriot LIAM HENDRIKS was also effective yesterday with an impressive 1.1ip 1h 0r 0er 1bb 3k (5.40 ERA) as one of the few positive outings for the Oakland Athletics who were trounced 5-12 by the in-form Baltimore Orioles. Liam was summoned from the bullpen with runners on the corners and two out in the top of the sixth and he did the job by having star outfielder Adam Jones struck out swinging.
Returning to handle the top of the seventh, he allowed a leadoff single to Trey Mancini ahead of an important strike out of slugger Mark Trumbo. Hendriks then pitched carefully to powerhouse Chris Davis who eventually milked a full count walk. Under a hint of pressure, Liam was able to bear down to have Wellington Castillo called out on three consecutive strikes and then he got Joey Rickard to foul out to first to end the inning. It was good incisive stuff for Hendriks on a tough day for his team.
In this game JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) played both corner outfield positions while batting a most productive 3-4 (.258) with three runs scored.

12 AUG 2017 - PETE MOYLAN TAKEN DEEP AGAIN!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Australian veteran PETER MOYLAN was haunted by the long ball again today while pitching 0.2ip 1h 1r 1er 0bb 0k (4.71 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals during their 3-6 defeat by the Chicago White Sox. With a runner on third and one out in the bottom of the seventh, Moylan saw a 2-2 pitch to Tim Anderson disappear over the centrefield fence for a two-run homer that padded the 'Chisox' lead. He then rolled a couple of groundballs from the bats of Tyler Saladino to third and Jose Abreu to second to finish the inning, albeit a tad too late on this occasion. Outfielder ADAM ENGEL (Melbourne Aces 2015) batted 2-4 (.209) with a triple and two runs scored for the White Sox.

Shortstop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-4 (.310) with a RBI and a run scored to help them to controversially overrun the rival Boston Red Sox 5-4 at New Yankee Stadium today.

11 AUG 2017 - WARWICK SAUPOLD TOILS MANFULLY FOR TIGERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Warwick Saupold
Aussie right hander WARWICK SAUPOLD was again pressed into extended middle relief work today after their starter was lifted early in the fourth inning of the Detroit Tigers 5-7 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
There was a runner in scoring position at second base and two out in the bottom of the fourth and Pittsburgh led 6-3 when Warwick was summoned from the bullpen to strike out Andrew McCutchen on four pitches to end the frame. In the top of the fifth he got Josh Bell to pop out to the shortstop ahead of David Freese milking a five pitch walk. Gregory Polanco reached on an infield single, but he escaped that inning by having Sean Rodriguez fly out to right and Jordy Mercer ground out to shortstop. In the top of the sixth the 'Bucos' came out looking to bunt with the first two hitters, yet it was a 1-2-3 inning for Saupold with Chris Stewart lining out to left, Starling Marte flying out to centre and Adam Frazier lining out to centre.
He also took care of the top of the seventh when Andrew McCutchen lined out to short before Josh Bell dumped a single into shallow centre. There was no further base action when David Freese struck out swinging and Gregory Polanco flied out to left field. His valuable line for the day was 3.1ip 2h 0r 0er 1bb 2k (2.91 ERA) as he ate some vital innings for the Tigers to protect their bullpen.

Australian side-armer PETER MOYLAN threw all six pitches for strikes this morning, yet it didn't end successfully for him with 0.0ip 1h 1r 0er 0bb 0k (4.57 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who were topped 6-8 by the St.Louis Cardinals. With none out and a runner perched on second base in the bottom of the sixth, big Pete faced yesterday's grand slam man Yadier Molina who singled to left to place runners on the corners. He then had a 0-2 count on Jose Martinez but Moylan threw wildly on an infield hit that he fielded himself and the runner scored from third. It was another forgettable outing for our Aussie stalwart.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) doubled again today with 1-4 (.311) for the New York Yankees who were shut out 0-4 by the Toronto Blue Jays in Toronto today. Gregorius clocked his 18th long ball yesterday while batting 3-5 with the RBI and three runs scored that certainly helped the Yanks to roll the Jays 11-5.

10 AUG 2017 - PETE MOYLAN STRUCK FOR GRAND SLAM!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Aussie veteran PETER MOYLAN was a victim of the long ball today when he pitched 1.0ip 1h 2r 2er 1bb 2k (4.57 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who were on the losing side of a 5-8 defeat by the streaking St.Louis Cardinals. Pete was asked to do the "dirty work" in the bottom of the sixth with two aboard and nobody out. He quickly got Jose Martinez to line out to right and then had Paul DeJong struck out swinging on three pitches, yet he was not quite out of the woods. With an open base at first, the Royals chose to issue an intentional walk to Dexter Fowler, but it all came unstuck when superstar catcher Yadier Molina launched a grand slam homer over left field to cash in four runs. Two of those runs belonged to his new bullpen mate BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) who was also on the receiving end of the Cards bats with 0.0ip 1h 2r 2er 1bb 0k (8.10 ERA) in the same game before Pete relieved him.

Fresh off taking one of the outfield catches of the season yesterday while leaping high above the right-centre fence at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Chicago White Sox centrefielder ADAM ENGEL (Melbourne Aces 2015) batted 1-3 (.204) plus a walk to help them to beat the visiting Houston Astros 7-1 again today.

9 AUG 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS HOLDS 12th & WARWICK SAUPOLD IS VERY STRONG!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Warwick Saupold

Joey Rickard

Although his Detroit Tigers were soundly beaten 3-6 by the Pittsburgh Pirates in interleague play today, Australia's WARWICK SAUPOLD was very positive with 2.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 3k (3.14 ERA) in middle relief.
In the bottom of the sixth he struck out Gregory Polanco, had Starling Marte line out to second and Josh Harrison line out to the centre fielder. Returning for the seventh inning, he struck out both Andrew McCutchen and Josh Bell, either side of getting David Freese to ground out back to himself on the hill. He definitely did all that he could to give his team a chance to rally.

Aussie ace LIAM HENDRIKS wasn't particularly sharp today, yet he still recorded his 12th hold after pitching 0.1ip 2h 1r 1er 0bb 0k (5.67 ERA) during the Oakland Athletics narrow 6-7 loss to the Seattle Mariners after ten innings. His A's were still leading 6-4 when Liam was entrusted with the top of the seventh and he secured the leadoff out when Leonys Martin lined out to right. However, he was given the hook after Jean Segura singled into right and Yonder Alonso slapped a soft infield single to short. Hendriks was saddled with the one earned run when Segura scored later in the inning. It wasn't his fault that the M's rallied ahead in extra innings long after he had departed the game.

Starting right fielder and #9 slot hitter JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) contributed 1-4 (.256) for the Baltimore Orioles who were just outlasted 2-3 by the Los Angeles Angels on the road today.

BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) pitched a nervous 1.0ip 1h 0er 2bb 1k (5.67 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals on their way to a 3-10 home defeat at the hands of the St.Louis Cardinals.

8 AUG 2017 - PETE MOYLAN SLICK DURING LOSS TO CARDS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Seasoned Aussie PETER MOYLAN pitched a clean inning of middle relief for the Kansas City Royals today with a no-fuss 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (4.02 ERA) during their 3-11 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals at Kauffman Stadium. With just five pitches Pete got Tommy Pham to ground out to the second baseman, Paul DeJong to fly out to centre field and Jose Martinez to fly out to right. It just doesn't get more clinical than that!

Hot and cold outfielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) clocked his 15th home run of the season today while batting 2-4 (.222) with two RBIs and the run scored for the Milwaukee Brewers who were eventually beaten narrowly 4-5 by the Minnesota Twins on the road.

7 AUG 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS & WARWICK SAUPOLD PITCH RELIEF!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Australian right hander LIAM HENDRIKS was again handed a "poisoned chalice" as one of few pitchers to suffer against a torrent of offence for the Oakland Athletics who eventually prevailed in a "wild" high-scoring game 11-10 over the Los Angeles Angels at Angels Stadium, in Anaheim. With his team trailing 5-6 coming into the bottom of the sixth, Liam was immediately on the back foot when a tight strike zone saw him issue back-to-back full count walks to Yunel Escobar and Mike Trout to lead off the inning. Hendriks got legend Albert Pujols to fly out to right, but C.J Cron singled through the middle to drive in a run. Our man was given the hook after securing the second out with Andrelton Simmons flying out to right. Unfortunately the other base runner also scored later in the inning to leave Hendriks with the pair of runs, one earned, in his line of 0.2ip 1h 2r 1er 2bb 0k (5.52 ERA).

Fellow West Australian WARWICK SAUPOLD fared a little better personally, with 1.0ip 1h 0r 0er 1bb 0k (3.29ERA) but his Detroit Tigers came up on the short end of a heavy 3-12 hammering by the home standing Baltimore Orioles. Warwick was called to arms in the bottom of the eighth just after the Orioles had peeled off four successive hits to start the inning with two aboard and still nobody out. He got Jonathan Schoop to ground into a force out by the short stop, but he couldn't stop another run scoring when Chris Davis grounded out to the first baseman. Following a wild pitch and a full count walk to Trey Mancini, Tim Beckham came through with another RBI single into right field. Saupold mercifully ended Baltimore's batting for the day as far as Detroit was concerned by getting Craig Gentry to ground out back to the mound for his own assist.

Still batting above the .300 avergae plateau is New York Yankees' short stop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) who nailed another 3-5 (.308) with a run scored to help the 'Bronx Bombers' to roll over the Cleveland Indians 8-1 today.

  6 AUG 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS HOLDS 11th v ANGELS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Joey Rickard

I doubt that Australia's LIAM HENDRIKS would be entirely impressed with his 0.2ip 2h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (5.40 ERA) relief outing, despite collecting his eleventh hold of the season for the Oakland Athletics who were ultimately overrun 6-8 by the Los Angeles Angels. Liam entered the game with two on and nobody out in the bottom of the sixth and things went well initially when C.J Cron grounded into a force out fielded by the second baseman and Martin Maldonado popped out to the short stop. Within an out of escaping of the jam, Hendriks then allowed a RBI single to Cliff Pennington and a two out single to Yunel Escobar before he was lifted. Nonetheless, the A's still led 6-4 at the time of his departure and he was asked to put out a smouldering fire which is never a walk in the park.

In yesterday's 2-5 loss to the Detroit Tigers, normally reliable Baltimore Orioles' reliever MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) was dealt harshly with his fourth blown save of the season and his first loss. His uncharacteristically ugly line for the day was 1.0ip 3h 4er 1bb 1k as his very good record slipped slightly to
7-1, 2.48 ERA. His team mate JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) batted 0-4, although he did better today with 1-4 (.241) plus a RBI in the Orioles reversed 5-2 win over the Detroit Tigers.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) was a key contributor for the New York Yankees this morning when he helped them to break out of a slump with 2-4 (.304) and a run batted in during their narrow 2-1 win over the Cleveland Indians.

Centrefielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted 1-3 (.221) plus a walk and a run scored as a strong performer for the Milwaukee Brewers who shut out the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0 on the road today.

  4 AUG 2017 - WARWICK SAUPOLD WINS No.3 v BALTIMORE!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Warwick Saupold

Joey Rickard

Although it wasn't a spectacular outing today, Aussie reliever WARWICK SAUPOLD pounced for his third win of the season thanks to some strong run support from his Detroit Tigers' team mates who outscored the Baltimore Orioles 7-5 at Camden Yards. With a line of 1.2ip 2h 1r 1er 1bb 0k, Saupold improved his season record to 3-1, 3.38 ERA. He came to the mound in the midst of a rally with two runners on and only one out in the bottom of the fifth, but he came through in the best possible way with a ground ball double play from his first pitch that immediately killed off the threat. Back for the bottom of the sixth, Saupold got slugger Chris Davis to fly out to left ahead of a one out single on a full count pitched to Tim Beckham. There was no further advance for the O's when he got Joey Rickard to line out to left and Wellington Castillo to ground out on a fielder's choice to the third baseman. Working again into the seventh frame, Warwick didn't fare so well when Craig Gentry doubled to deep right to lead off the inning and Adam Jones milked a full count walk. That was enough for our man who was lifted and one of his runners scored later in the inning to saddle him with the run. JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) batted 0-4 (.246) as the starting right fielder and #7 hole hitter for Baltimore.

Australia's PETER MOYLAN threw just the one pitch today and it resulted in a raking double to deep right field for Nelson Cruz in the seventh inning of his Kansas City Royals' 6-4 home win over the travelling Seattle Mariners. Pete's obvious line for the day was 0.1ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (4.19 ERA) from the briefest of possible outings.

Centre fielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted a handy 1-2 (.222) with a walk and a RBI for the Milwaukee Brewers who scraped past the St.Louis Cardinals 2-1 this morning.

3 AUG 2017 - PETE MOYLAN STRONG IN SHUTOUT LOSS TO ORIOLES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Aussie evergreen PETER MOYLAN was again effective enough for the Kansas City Royals in what was to be a 0-6 shutout defeat at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles. Pete was asked to pitch the seventh inning with his team already trailing 0-3 and he did his job of keeping it there with a solid 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 1bb 0k (4.19 ERA). He began by getting former ABL import player JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) to ground out to third, then he got Caleb Joseph to ground out back to himself on the mound. After working a 0-2 count, Pete lost a six pitch battle with Craig Gentry who walked ahead of Adam Jones flying out to right field to end the inning. It wasn't his fault that his Royals' offence could not find any runs today. Rickard started at right field for the Orioles today, but he found it tough at the plate with 0-4 (.251).

Centrefielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) was back in action for the Milwaukee Brewers with a productive 2-4 (.220) plus a run scored in a losing 4-5 cause against the St. Louis Cardinals.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-4 (.302) for the New York Yankees who were shut out at home 0-2 by the visiting Detroit Tigers.

1 AUG 2017 - WARWICK SAUPOLD & PETE MOYLAN BOTH EFFICIENT!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Warwick Saupold
Albeit in a losing cause, Aussie reliever WARWICK SAUPOLD posted a very tidy and efficient inning at the end of his Detroit Tigers' 3-7 loss to the New York Yankees this morning. With seven of nine pitches thrown for strikes, Warwick owned the pitching line of 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (3.29 ERA) while polishing off the bottom of the eighth. In quick succession he had Todd Frazier called out on strikes, Ronald Torreyes ground out back to the mound and Tyler Wade ground out to the first baseman.

Australian compatriot PETER MOYLAN posted exactly the same pitching line of 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (4.30 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals during their 1-2 defeat by the Baltimore Orioles. Asked to handle the vital bottom of the eighth in a tied 1-1 game, Pete struck 9out Manny Machado, got Jonathan Schoop to ground out back to the hill and then got Trey Mancini to ground out to third. Quite remarkably his sequence of outs was almost a replica of Saupold's, as some would note.
